queer as folk

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

alas, i am "l word-less." ok what i do mean is that my world, as i know it, is free of the l word show.

seasons 1-3 went by in a blur and season four has come and gone in the blink of an eye. oh, the sadnosity of it all! *sob* season five will be airing in only God knows when… well, nine months, actually. but hello?! what the hell am i supposed to do for the next few months? bawl my eyes out until i get a copy of the season?

oh holy crap! i just remembered that you tube is banning the clips of l word episodes now which means that i have to wait even longer just to get a freaking dvd copy. (although some of them do get away with it for around 24 hours before the administrators catch them. hmm. i hope these people will still be dedicated to posting the episodes of season five.) life is mean. then again, our cable operator could just include showtime on the list of channels. but i guess parents would not be too pleased with certain things they show. haha.

so yes, i am left with the option of reviewing seasons one down to three (since the dvd copy of season four isn’t out yet.) it’s not bad, i tell you. the only problem i have with it is that sometime soon i’m bound to get fed up with it, aren’t i? or is l word that good of a show and that much of a black hole that i will forever be entranced by its beauty and sucked into its very existence? hmm, maybe. we’ll just see, i guess.

but wait! what’s this? a show taht came before the l word and was supported by the same producers (or something of that sort). interesting.

ok, i bought a copy of seasons one to four (or was that five?) of this show called queer as folk aka quaf (in my world). i watched a few episodes a couple of months ago. my sister and i kept comparing it to the l word and commenting how corny the jokes were and how it lacked the ingenuity and luster that l word had. and so we chucked it into the bottom of our dvd collection thinking that it was just not worth our time.

now here i am obsessing over it every single day, devoting every waking moment to it. (not really. clearly an exaggeration but i do spend most of my day watching it.) i am now on season three. *woot!* yey for quaf!

so to those who have had so much fun with l word and are in the same dilemma that i was in (namely waiting endlessly for season five and searching for the perfect substitute…) get yourself a copy of it.

i’m off to the queer world! not literally though. just the show. lol
